No such luck. The vent hose comes out from the bottom of the dryer so it had to go up to attach to the wall vent. This results in no space savings from having a recessed vent. The washer has these stiff braided hoses that jut out from the washer back. The bottom line is the closest the back of the wsdher and dryer get to wall is 5.5 inches.
